"It's me again Maria S. (Ont.) Have you every read the article in Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly Vol 16? It's about 3 Canadian samplers. The article makes no mention that these samplers have been charted and the charts are available from Emlis in the US Check under Griffin Needlearts"
Thanks for reminding me about that Maria...I had read it ages ago, but I will enjoy reading it again...there are also some Nova Scotian samplers in various museums throughout the province, some of which have been reproduced...the trick is finding out information on them...some of the stitchers names and other personal info have been documented, but not who taught them their needlework...there were some teachers and schools listed as teaching needlework in the Halifax/Dartmouth region, but not in the smaller more remote villages...yet some of the most interesting (IMO) samplers come from these rural areas...
Thanks for the info on the samplers repro`d by Griffin Designs...I had missed those.
Keep stitching ladies...
Cloths Of Heaven...
Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths, Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. ~~

WIP...
I am now working on my sadly neglected Celtic Banner...here is my progress so far...
I find the more stressed I am, the more it helps to focus on needlework...I have been stitching quite a lot lately...
