It`s a strange world....

The internet is a powerful thing...it`s a business tool, a communications network, a source of information, and most of all (to me) a meeting place for friends that might have otherwise never known each other...

I lost a net friend today. She was a wonderful lady...brave, kind, an animal lover and caring person...She posted on a BB I belong to, and was liked by all...she never had an unkind word to say to or about anyone...She and I were just getting to know each other better via PMs...

Another member of the HLBB said it eloquently...My heart hurts...

RIP Bev...you have left a hole in the Highlander community and in our hearts...

More chit chat...

I want to thank all of you for your kind comments...I am really bad at visiting blogs and leaving comments...I spend so much time on the net, i`m beginning to resent the stitching time i`m losing...but trying to cut down is hard..once you have friends and have committed time to certain things, it is almost impossible to cut back without hurting peoples feelings...also, have you noticed the time warp that surrounds the comp?...An hour flys by and it seems like 10 minutes...

I am rethinking how I spend my time IRL as well as on the net...I am considering joining a guild...I have had mixed experiences with guilds in the past...the members of a guild where I used to live were..well..elitist is being kind...snooty fits better...very full of themselves and unwelcoming...but then I met several members of a guild from an adjoining town, and they were very sweet and welcoming...but it was too far to travel for me at the time (a 4 hour + drive), so I never joined...

CS is the home of the Pikes Peak chapter of the EGA...i`m thinking about joining...any opinions of needlework guilds in general?

Is needlework declining in popularity?

I must really be out of the loop...I went to a lovely LNS here in Colorado Springs in August called Needle Nutz...I was so happy to find such a well stocked shop with such friendly people...I flew back down here from Canada on the 1st of November...today I dropped in at the shop...only to discover it has closed...gone...vamoosed!...I swear they could hear my exclamation of "OH NO!!!" back home in NS....i`m heartbroken...

What is going on with regular brick and mortar LNS?...It seems so many shops are closing their doors...Is needlework declining in popularity, or are people shopping on line now?...I have shopped on line with great success, but there is nothing like chatting with a shop owner about fabric and thread choices, hearing about the latest patterns, and asking for tips on technique...or just stopping in to browse and get inspired to try something new....

Is online shopping the way of the future?

I`m still here...

Still stitching on Indian Garden pillow top..*sigh*...I only stitch an hour or so a day, so it`s slow going, but at least it`s going...

I`ve been doing some housecleaning, and also Christmas has gotten in the way of my stitching, but, alas, I fear the real culprit is the comp...I spend way too much time ogling samplers on-line, and not enough stitching...between that and posting on HLBB, my stitching is suffering...as is this blog...sorry.

I`m saving up for a sampler kit...the kit for Jane Bostocke is going to cost me $175.00 US...I got some unexpected money for x-mas (thanks Lavern!), so I have a start on savings...it will be awhile I fear though...I wouldn`t spend this kind of money on just any sampler kit..this is Jane Bostocke!...I had the chance to hold the original in my hands a couple of years ago on a trip to the V&A...it was a thrill I won`t forget in a hurry.

What is the most you have spent on a single needlework project?
