Jane Turner

I have been picking away a bit at Jane Turner again, trying to take a decent pic to get up on this blog. I think I have finally figured out the problem. I messed around with the settings, and while these pics are by no means perfect, they are much better than the last ones I took. Here is where I am on Jane Turner

I have a bit of a dilemma with the yellow and green striped leaves. In the second band I stitched the satin stitches this way:

In the fifth band I stitched the satin stitches this way:

I am not sure which I prefer. The double running stitch that outlines and divides the leaf sections is  much more visible the first way, but the leaf takes much longer to stitch. The instructions don`t say which direction the satin stitches go in. Most annoying. What do you think?

Til next time, keep stitching ladies!

This is really beautiful! Great stitching.
As for the satin stitch, I think I'd do it diagonally, as in the outer part of the large pink flower :-)
Which is probably not what you want to hear... sorry...

Looks so pretty, MJ! I have not done many patterns with satin stitch but am about to start a band sampler with lots. In the directions it says to always do the satin stitches in the smallest length? Although perhaps it is what is best to the eye.

Your sampler is lovely. I think the girls that stitched these in the past probably stitched them in whatever way suited them at the moment :)

Stunning work, MJ. I always go with the short run on satin stitch if it's not specified, but you have to live with it. So do what looks best to you.

Great job.

It's looks fabulous. I'd pick the type of stain stitch that YOU like the look of most. Personally I'd pick the second version, as it looks smoother, but as you say, the bs is lost between the satin stitches. So long as the piece is consistent it doesn't matter!

Your work is beautiful! I love the satin stitches. I have that hoop but have never used it because I am a stick in the mud type of person so I stay with frame I have used for years.
