Library Find!

I borrowed this book from my local library the other day. I was firstly very surprised to find it (I haven`t had much luck looking for needlework books at the library) and then enthralled when I opened it. What an exciting find! Tips on designing your own samplers...ideas for adapting existing patterns...instructions for many different stitches...inspiration on every page! I just ordered one from Amazon for $4.oo! (used). If you love stitching samplers you should check this one out!

Tagged!

By Gio: http://gio162.wordpress.com/ (I never have figured out how to add links where you click on a name instead of the actual addy...I need a course in comp basics I think)

I must post six random things about myself. The rules are:

1. Link to the person who tagged you.

2. Post the rules on your blog.

3. Write six random things about yourself.

4. Tag six people at the end of your post.

5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

6. Let the tagger know your entry is up.

Tagging six people could present a problem...Dial up doesn`t like some blogs, esp the ones with flash displays, (you know...those cool boxes that display an ever changing pic of their work.) But I will give it a shot!

Six random things:

1 I am agnostic but love touring cathedrals

2 I love mystery novels

3 I am a Highlander fan

4 I collect gemstone jewelery

5 I have many relatives in England

6 I dislike my name

Hmmm...six people:

On the stitching front, I have been puttering away at my wolves...I have my x-mas project on the scroll frame, but am waiting for the allen key (little tool dohicky) that Jen forgot to send so I can tighten up my stand properly. Did I mention I bought a floor stand? I love using a scroll frame as it keeps my stitching so neat and hoop mark free, but find it too heavy to hold. Jen had a floor frame for sale on the Needle and Thread board at a lovely price, so I grabbed it! I am so excited to try it! Here is a pic:

The chart holder is slightly different than that one, but you get the idea. This will allow me to use my frame. Keeping the linen taut is much better...putting it in and out of a hoop sometimes seems to stretch the linen, making for a wonky finished project.

EveningStarDesigns http://www.eveningstardesigns.citymax.com/page/page/3991044.htm are having a sale of Needle Necessities overdyed floss...perfect for cross stich and embroidery. I love this thread...lovely big hanks of the most spectacular colours...Other threads are on sale also...I can`t justify spending money to buy more threads I don`t need right now, but I wish I could place an order...

Keep stitching ladies!

Remembrance Day

Take a moment today to honor those who fought for our freedom...and those who are keeping the peace in the world right now as well.

This Remembrance Day my thoughts are with my soon-to-be stepsons. Kevin is in Iraq, and Kyle will soon be going to Afghanistan. Stay safe.

Christmas Stitching

This is going to be my Christmas project this year. I don`t expect to have it finished by the 25th, but I like working on something seasonal at Christmastime.

I had wanted to do this one for a few years now, and actually thought I had bought the pattern, but I hadn`t, so I picked it up this summer. I love the look of hardanger on a sampler done as a bottom edge like this. I can`t wait to get started.

Progress...

Slowly but surely...

I am making some progress. This is turning out to be a fun stitch, even though it`s not my usual thing at all.
