Marriage Of True Minds

I am going to stitch my version of it...I am going to shorten it by a few bands, and change the verse. I like this sonnet, but I want something a little shorter and simpler. I am using DMC 522 for the grass in the top panel which is the suggested substitute for the Gloriana Luminescence 120...however, I have had to change the stems of the flowers in this area from the Weeks Blue Spruce to DMC 500 because they got lost in the grass (which I didn`t discover til both the grass and stems were stitched. Grrr)

My fabric is 36 ct summer khaki, and I am using one strand of thread. I changed the white floss to ecru, and the DMC 3790 to 3781. I am also having a problem with there not being enough contrast between the deer and the grass. I am wondering if I could back stitch around them, or if I should rip them out and stitch them in a darker shade. Still mulling that over...
Now i`m also stitching on the Needleprint stitch-along, Sarah Harris. I`ll post a pic of that one soon...
Keep stitching ladies!

This is a really gorgeous project, one I'd like to stitch too. Great start!

Lovely!
Perhaps you could backstitch the deer with a darker brown and see if they are more visible.

I think I would certainly give backstitching a try. This is such a pretty project:)

Another vote for backstitching around the deer - a simple answer to your issue.
Lovely piece!

Another gorgeous sampler you've picked. I, for one, would not backstitch around the deer, but go about it in a different way (no frogging involved! Frogging is to be avoided at all costs, at all times. That's my motto and I'm sticking to it). I would erm... stitch over them with a darker colour. The Sarah Harris apparoach, only just a half stitch. It would make the deer slightly bulkier than the rest though...
