OK, I have officially lost my mind....

I went up to the stitchy room the other night and counted my WIPs. I have 22! I also have 10 others partially or completely kitted up. Ok, said I to maself, no more new starts...no more buying of patterns or kits. I need to get some of these finished. They are mostly all huge, time consuming samplers. This, I said, will be the year I clear a lot of these off my WIP list. I will not buy more. I will stitch from my stash, I will be thrifty!!

And then, into my world waltzed Jane Bostocke.

On ebay....for $325.00!!! My resolutions were still hanging in the air in front of my mouth, and I wanted this sampler...sooooo bad. Hubby wanted to know what I was muttering about as I tried to convince myself I didn`t really want her...I had too much stash now...money was tight...etc...etc...

After I explained that this kit was nearly impossible to find, that it was the oldest dated sampler extant, that I had lusted after her all my life...etc, etc, he handed me the credit card and told me to hurry up and get it before it was gone! I am proud to say I didn`t jump right to it...I waited...hemmed and hawed, argued with myself, and then caved in and bought it. I am alternating between being over-the-moon-excited and being disgusted with myself that I spent that much money!! (Well, not quite that much, the price dropped $25.00 during my internal and sometimes external debate). So...that is why I think I have lost my mind. I`ll never get all these samplers finished, and I keep buying more!!

Jane is due to arrive this week, I should have the pleasure of her company by Thursday at the latest. I`ll keep you posted!

Keep stitching ladies!!

This sampler is gorgeous. Oh my, I am very envious. I don't have any WIP's (don't hate me). If you would like to get some off your hands, let me know. Enjoy!!

I'm happy to read that I'm not alone in my quest to "try" avoiding those stash enhancing purchases this year! Like you, I also gave in this weekend and took the plunge by purchasing a new Scarlet Letter sampler kit I saw on EBay. That place is just too dangerous for anyone who stitches and has a penchant for gathering new projects! Looks like you chose a beauty here! Looking forward to seeing your progress.

I agree with you about the stash and the WIPs, I am in the same boat. I joined the Stitch from Stash challenge this year to try to get under control with the stash building. So far, haven't bought a thing. BUT, when it is something you have always wanted and that is as rare as that sampler, how could you not?? Enjoy it! Save money later!! Laura

Congrats, MJ. I know you're thrilled.

My husband was quite encouraging when I ordered a couple of charts I didn't 'need' from Essamplaire. Sounds like we both found keepers!

Dito. Well, only 2 WIP's but eye sight is not what it used to be and I am saving for new glasses.

However, I keep buying newbies. They are all just so fascinating and beautiful, it is hard to choose. For me, I love a challenge and would love to have a JB graph. Curious how you got yours. I thought it couldn't be duplicated except by the owner and I thought the VA Museum still owned her. Regardless, congratulations and I hope you share photos with us. I'll bet your work is gorgeous.

There is only one thing to do to justify....put Jane at the top of your list and Finish Her, ignoring
all others until you do. What a
special hubby you have. Kaye held
my hand through the Bostwick instructions and I am ever grateful.

Hi MJ, it's ages since I popped by here (sorry). WOW, what a purchase. I can quite happily(?) spend something not far off that amount while in the US, and the other half has become my enabler. Definitely keepers... the men as well as the stash!

Wow, you must be over the moon happy ~ Even happier Jane arrives.

In my quest to organize my stash I too will be delving into the WIP basket to figure out what I have...not sure I want to know!

Congratulations on such a wonderful find and purchase! If you have loved the design all your life and stitching the JBS will give you great pleasure, then it is well worth the cost in my opinion :) I'm greatly looking forward to following your stitching adventure with your sampler!
