How many stitchers do whitework? I must admit although I love it, I have never done a whole whitework sampler...sections of whitework on band samplers yes, but not a piece de resistance like you see here...I would love to though...A whole Sampler in all the beautiful stitches associated with this kind of work...preferably an antique one...
It is also fun to do the whitework stitches in tone on tone work...I particularly like it done on natural linen with natural linen thread...or cream floss on cream linen...I have planned to do a hardanger pillow that I have the pattern for ...I need more hands...and better eyes...

I love whitework and someday will attempt to stitch one. I love the picture that you posted. What's the name of the sampler - is this one of Sharon Cohen's? If I ever get brave enough I would love to attemp something like the picture....someday!

I would love to learn this type of needle made lace....Kay Montclare had some beautiful samplers featuring this stuff but they are so difficult to find these days....

Sorry about the late reply - I have to say I have a couple of whitework pieces that I want to get stitched up ... one day ... that piece you posted is stunning :D I have to admit on the whole I'm not 'into' historical samplers, but I love reading your descriptions and notes about them :)
