A question regarding floss

What is up with Gentle Art Sampler Threads cotton overdyes? Has anyone found the quality has gone downhill, or is it just my imagination? I am stitching the Sharon Cohen sampler Grateful Heart with the called for GAST threads, and they seem oddly stringy...the twist is looser than it should be, and they lack the smoothness they had before. Anyone else finding this?

I have found that Gentle Art Sampler thread and Weeks Dye Works HAVE degraded in quality. They are rough and maddenly thin. If I am going to use overdyes, I'll try my best to convert to Crescent Colors.

I wish I had known that before I bought the materials kit for this sampler. I love the colours, but the thread is awful...I can`t afford to just chuck the threads and buy new. Not happy...

This is dismaying news. I just bought a lot of both but haven't stitched with them yet or examined them. Have you or anyone else gotten in touch with Gentle Arts or WDW?

I only used GAST for the first time about a year ago and found the thread twisted and knotted a lot. I wonder if it would help to use thread heaven (I've never tried it)? I just assumed the thread was always awful...

I was just thinking how the quality of GAST has been declining!!! I threw away an entie skein because it seemed to be fraying every 2-3 inches!! I NEVER throw floss away but I was just so frustrated wit it~~

Five years ago I bought two skeins of GAST at Gitta's in Toronto for a project. Both were the same colour. Used the one up. Started the second skein. Stripped two threads, stripped another two threads. Tried to strip the last two threads and there was only one thread! Checked everywhere and couldn't find the missing thread. Cut another length and counted the plies, there were only 5! Emailed GAST right away and they offered to send me two new skeins. I told them I only needed one. It was here within the week.
Companies like to know when their products are lacking.
Years ago I bought some fabric in a package from Regency Mills at White Rose here in K-W. Found out the "evenweave" wasn't so evenweave. Twenty-eight threads the one way and the other something like 24 the other. Didn't have my receipt anymore but that was in the day of snailmail so I wrote them a letter telling them what happened. Within two weeks I got a response and 3 packages of fabric. They thanked me for letting them know about the problem. Maria S.
