Some finishes...finally!!

I have been trying to get some WIPs finished before carrying on with Margret Gatis, and I have had four finishes! *does happy dance.*
The first finish was a square of HoHRH but I think I`ll show that in another post later, along with the squares I have done so far. The next finish was my version of The Drawn Threasds' Marriage Of True Minds. I just call it my wedding sampler, as I substituted a paraphrased verse of  Dimitri Shostakovich for that of William Shakespeares' (apologies Will)

Sorry for the wrinkles, I promise it will be smooth and clean for the framer.

I also left out the band with the clouds and cranes...it was such a striking band I thought it kind of overwhelmed the sampler. Stitched on 32 count Zwiegart summer khaki. The pics are very washed out. I think I need to get photoshop so I can tweak colours in my pics.

The next finish is 17th Century Style Sampler by Gloria and Pat

Gee, my picture taking skills are stunning, aren`t they? (can you sense the sarcasm?)

The last pic is much closer to the colour of the linen, which I think is Zwiegart mocha 28ct. I started this in 2004, so it has been a WIP (UFO?) for quite awhile and I am glad to have it finished. I changed the (I am seeing a theme here) verse to one I had seen on an antique sampler and liked, and also changed the bands around, leaving some out and shortening others. The verse reads "Who would love this world or prize whats in it that gives and takes and chops and changes every minute". Yes, the irony of the verse does not escape me. ;)

Now that it is finished I`m not sure what I will do with it. I am not sure I like it as much as I thought when I started it, so instead of framing it I may hemstitch it and just tuck it in a drawer for now. It may grow on me, we will see...

I also took an old UFO and made it into a pincushion, but I`ll leave that for another post. I am stitching on Margret Gatis and having problems, so there has been a wee bit of cussing going on. My cats just look at me and flick their tails. They are no help.

Lady J saying "really, must you cuss?"

That`s all for today, sorry my posts are so infrequent. Time just seems to run away from me lately.
Keep stitching ladies!

Congrats on your finishes! They're both beautifully stitched. I like the quotation you used on the Drawn Thread piece a lot.

Just beautiful. Finishing up projects is sooo rewarding. I have 3 UFOs and I am finally working on one of them. The other two are very large projects that I just can't get into.

Have a wonderful Holiday season.

How wonderful to have finished so many WIPs! It always feels so good to put those last stitches in. And as for the cussing, that seems to help and should not be discouraged! LOL!! Laura
